Artist Ji Eun Kim wins first prize in competition sponsored by AHL Foundation

2009 Wyoming Arts Council intern Ji Eun Kim reports that she has won first prize in a competition sponsored by the AHL Foundation. The foundation supports Korean artists in the U.S. She wins a cash prize and will be part of a group show at the Gana Gallery in New York City's Chelsea District in January 2011.

Ji Eun is from Seoul, South Korea, and now lives in Cheyenne. She's currently in residence at the Kimmel Harding Nelson Center in Nebraska City, Neb. She just received a residency at the Santa Fe Art Institute in Santa Fe, N.M. for November and December of this year.

Reminder: Reception this evening at Clay Paper Scissors Gallery in Cheyenne

Take a break from the legislative session and get on over to the Clay Paper Scissors Gallery in downtown Cheyenne for a pre-Valentine's Day reception for "Melting Into Spring -- Watercolors by Kandice Starbuck" from 4-7 p.m. today (Feb. 11). Free and open to the public.

Starbuck, a native of Wyoming now living in Fort Collins, has dedicated herself to painting daily. Her delicately painted watercolors capture the luminous winter light, the warmth of spring and the pleasure of flowers.

Her artwork will be on display through March 20.

Hours during the exhibit: Thursdays 4-7, Fridays 1-5, Saturdays 10-2

Oct. 29 "Stories of the Hunt" postponed

Another casualty of the unrelenting snowstorm:

"Art of the Hunt: Stories of the Hunt" has been canceled for tonight, October 29, 7 p.m. Guest speaker Jim "Tex" Garry made it safely (and smartly) from Cody to Cheyenne on Tuesday. But the Laramie County Library System closed for the day due to snow.

The program is rescheduled for Thursday, November 12, 7 p.m. Please join us then!
